Traditional student charity fair continues in İskeçe
The traditional student charity fair organized annually by senior students of İskeçe Minority Middle School and High School is continuing in İskeçe, with the event open to visitors until 10 p.m. on Saturday, September 26.
The fair officially opened on Friday, September 25, at the school’s Sports Complex in the Aşağımahalle district of İskeçe (Xanthi).
The opening ceremony was attended by Mustafa Trampa, president of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Consultative Board and mufti of İskeçe; deputy consuls Ali Tosun, Umut Yamık and Onur Sezer, representing the Consulate General of Türkiye in Gümülcine (Komotini); representatives of the school’s Parent-Teacher Association and school board; Çiğdem Asafoğlu, president of the Friendship, Equality and Peace (FEP) Party; İskeçe Turkish Union President Kerem Abdurrahimoğlu; representatives of the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association (BTAYTD), the Western Thrace Turkish Teachers’ Union (BTTÖB), the Education and Cultural Foundation of Western Thrace Minority (BAKEŞ) and other organizations.
İskeçe MP Hüseyin Zeybek, former Mustafçova mayor Cemil Kabza, as well as students, parents, teachers and other members of the local community also attended the opening.
Members of the protocol delivered brief welcoming remarks during the ceremony.
The fair has been prepared by the school’s senior students over an extended period and features entertainment areas and activities for children and young people.
Visitors can also find a variety of food and desserts, including grilled meatballs and çiğ köfte.
The traditional fair will remain open until 10 p.m. on Saturday, September 26.
