Regional councillor Kostas Antoniadis resigns from Eastern Macedonia and Thrace council
Kostas Antoniadis has resigned from his position as a regional councillor in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, saying it is time to make way for younger generations in public office.
Antoniadis was elected as a regional councillor for the Kavala regional unit with the opposition faction "New Regional Renaissance." He has also previously served in various administrative positions.
Announcing his decision through a social media post, Antoniadis described the resignation as "a difficult but necessary decision," stressing that public offices are not permanent and that younger generations should be given the opportunity to assume positions of responsibility.
"For more than 20 years, I served the second tier of local government with dedication, selflessness, ideological integrity and political ethics," he said. Antoniadis added that the greatest legacy of his public service was the trust, support and affection he received from citizens, thanking them for standing by him throughout his political career.
