Dedeağaç LNG Terminal resumes operations after six-month outage
The Dedeağaç Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal has restarted operations after being offline for roughly six and a half months due to a fault in its high-pressure pumps. The breakdown on January 28 forced the suspension of cargo unloading and regasification activities.
According to operator Gastrade, repair and maintenance work was completed ahead of schedule. Initially planned to resume on August 15, the terminal was brought back online four days early, on Monday, August 11. Most of the current capacity restrictions are expected to be lifted on October 1, 2025.
The Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) began commercial operations in October 2024 but was forced to halt after just a few months due to the technical issue. At the time, the company said the suspension had not caused significant disruptions to energy supplies in Greece or Southeast Europe.
For the current period, the terminal will operate with a daily regasification capacity of 45.4 GWh, available under specific technical and commercial conditions until September 30, 2025. The existing 25% capacity cap is scheduled to be removed on October 1, though minor technical limitations may persist for short periods.
