Greek Super League side Panathinaikos have officially appointed Rafael Benítez as their new head coach.

In an official statement, the club announced:

“One of the most successful managers in world football and the best coach ever to join a Greek team, Rafa Benítez, has started his collaboration with Panathinaikos.”

The club did not disclose details regarding the length of Benítez’s contract or his salary.

Benítez, 65, famously led Liverpool to the UEFA Champions League title in 2005, in a final held in Istanbul. Throughout his career, he has also won two La Liga titles and one UEFA Cup with Valencia, as well as the Europa League with Chelsea.
