Real Madrid agree to extend Arda Guler deal through 2031
Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Turkish midfielder Arda Guler to extend his contract until 2031, according to Madrid-based sports daily AS.
The 21-year-old’s current deal runs until 2029. The reported two-year extension would be his first contract renewal since joining the Spanish club and would include a salary increase.
Following the report, football database Transfermarkt raised Guler’s estimated market value from €90 million to €100 million.
Guler becomes key figure
Guler has established himself as an increasingly important player at Real Madrid since joining from Istanbul-based Fenerbahce in 2023.
He has started five matches this season. Last season, he made 40 starts, scoring six goals and providing a team-high 14 assists.
AS reported that Real Madrid view Guler as an important player for both the present and the future, with coaches who have worked with him praising his technical ability and potential for further development.
Mourinho praises Turkish star
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has also highlighted Guler’s influence on the team.
“For me, his playing quality is incredible: the vision, the decision-making, the organization of play, the stability he gives the team, the creation,” Mourinho said.
“He is a player with fantastic potential who already has very interesting numbers, and they are not only assists and goals. They come from a deeper analysis. He’s a young man who has a great influence.”
International impact
Guler has also become a key player for Türkiye. He scored in the national team’s 3-1 victory over Georgia at Euro 2024, where Türkiye reached the quarterfinals.
The reported extension would keep the midfielder at Real Madrid through 2031, further underlining the club’s long-term plans for the young Turkish international.
