Dzeko bids farewell to Bosnia

Edin Dzeko has ended his international career with Bosnia and Herzegovina, bringing an end to one of the longest chapters in the country's football history.

The former Fenerbahce striker made his final appearance for the national team as Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted Sweden at Bilino Polje Stadium in Zenica in the Nations League.

Dzeko started the match and appeared to score late in the first half, but the goal was ruled out after officials determined that the ball had gone out of play before being returned into the area.

Emotional farewell in Zenica

The 63rd minute brought the defining moment of the night. Dzeko left the pitch to a standing ovation, making way for Haris Tabakovic as he officially ended his international career.

The match finished 1-1, but the result was overshadowed by the farewell to the player widely regarded as one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's greatest footballers.

Fans packed the stadium to see Dzeko in a Bosnia shirt for the final time. Supporters also gathered around the stadium, with people watching from balconies and windows overlooking the ground.

Family and teammates join celebration

After the final whistle, Dzeko's wife, children, mother and father joined him on the pitch.

His teammates lifted him onto their shoulders before Dzeko walked around the stadium to acknowledge the supporters and say his final goodbye.

152 appearances, 73 goals

Dzeko leaves the national team after making 152 appearances and scoring 73 goals for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Known affectionately as "the Diamond" among Bosnian supporters, the striker's departure marks the end of an era for the national team.
