"Real politics is about solving society's problems"
"SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance must return to politics. There has to be an overall discussion on politics in Greece," opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Sokratis Famellos said in an interview with Open TV on Thursday, noting that there was a "serious issue with the credibility of politics in Greece".
He also added that "real politics is about solving society's problems," whereas for ruling New Democracy it had now become "about serving financial interests."
Continuing, he underlined that "over the last four years, 20 billion euros in profits, the excess profits of large groups, have left the market". These excessive profits were "the government's choice and not simple incompetence," he added.
Famellos said that it was his responsibility to make SYRIZA the main opposition party once more. "The mandate we have from the grass roots of the party, but also from the popular verdict of the elections, is for SYRIZA to be main opposition. This is the mandate of society," he said, adding: "There was and is a plan so that we are not the main opposition."
