Prolonged blockades at Evzoni, Niki, Promachonas and Exochi customs points
Farmers and livestock producers continue their protest actions at key border crossings in northern Greece, maintaining blockades at the customs offices of Evzoni and Niki on the Greek–North Macedonian border, as well as at Promachonas and Exochi on the Greek–Bulgarian border.
According to AMNA, at the Promachonas crossing, protesters are enforcing lengthy shutdowns that primarily affect international freight transport. While cargo trucks are being prevented from crossing, private vehicles and intercity buses are allowed to pass freely. Truck drivers remain at the site, and the mobilization is expected to intensify as representatives of other labor unions plan to join the protest at 11:30 a.m.
In parallel and in coordination with Promachonas, farmers and livestock breeders from Nevrokopi in the Drama region are staging an eight-hour blockade from 12:00 to 20:00. During this period, all types of freight vehicles are barred from entering or exiting, while passenger cars and tourist buses are being diverted via alternative routes.
At the Evzoni border crossing, producers decided during a general assembly to impose a four-hour blockade starting at 18:00. The action affects both inbound and outbound traffic and applies to all vehicles, including private cars and trucks, with passage permitted only for emergency cases.
Meanwhile, protesters at the Niki customs office will continue blocking the crossing from 19:00 to 23:00, targeting all freight trucks.
Further decisions on the escalation or continuation of the blockades are expected following a meeting of the Panhellenic Blockade Committee scheduled for Thursday at 14:00 in Serres.
