Greek Defense Minister to visit Bulgaria for security talks
The visit comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of defense, security, and innovation.
Visit Follows Patriot and F-16 Deployments
The trip follows recent military developments aimed at strengthening regional security, including the deployment of a Patriot missile battery near the Greek-Bulgarian border to enhance anti-ballistic protection for Bulgaria.
In addition, a pair of F‑16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets have been stationed at an airbase in northern Greece as part of broader security coordination between the two NATO allies.
High-Level Meetings in Sofia
During his visit to Sofia, Dendias is expected to hold bilateral talks with Zapryanov, followed by joint press statements.
The Greek defense minister will also meet with Bulgaria’s prime minister, Andrey Gurov, according to officials.
Focus on Bilateral Defense Cooperation
According to the Greek Ministry of Defense, the visit aims to further strengthen cooperation between Greece and Bulgaria in defense, security policy, and technological innovation.
Both countries, members of NATO and the European Union, have increased coordination in recent years amid broader regional security concerns in Southeastern Europe.
