Gale-force winds suspend ferry services from Rafina and Lavrio

Ferry services from the ports of Rafina and Lavrio were suspended on Friday as gale-force winds across the Aegean Sea created unsafe sailing conditions.

Authorities imposed a sailing ban at both ports, cancelling all scheduled departures until weather conditions improve.

Ferry operations from Piraeus continued normally, except for the cancellation of the Blue Star Paros service to Syros, Tinos and Mykonos. Routes to the Saronic Gulf remained in operation.

The Hellenic National Meteorological Service reported northerly and northeasterly winds reaching 6 to 8 Beaufort, with locally stronger gusts of up to 9 Beaufort in parts of the Aegean.

Passengers were advised to contact port authorities or ferry operators before travelling to confirm possible delays or cancellations.
