GPO Poll: New Democracy holds firm at 30.1% as three parties fall below parliamentary threshold

Greece’s political landscape remains fluid but clearly defined at the top, according to a new nationwide survey by GPO. The poll confirms the continued dominance of New Democracy (ND) while reshaping the battle for second and third place and signaling limited momentum for potential new political formations.

New Democracy Maintains Clear Lead

ND remains the leading political force with 30.1% in voting estimation, consolidating its advantage over rivals.

Trailing in second place is PASOK – Movement for Change with 13.2%, followed closely by Course of Freedom at 11.1%, marking a notable surge.

Greek Solution ranks fourth with 10.9%, while the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) secures fifth place at 9.2%.

SYRIZA falls to sixth with 5.6%, highlighting continued pressure on the main opposition bloc.

Three parties remain below Greece’s 3% parliamentary entry threshold:

  • MeRA25 – 2.5%
  • Voice of Reason – 2.3%
  • Niki – 2.2%

An additional 8.6% of respondents indicated preference for “Other Party.”

Voting Intention: ND at 24.9%, High Undecided Rate

In raw voting intention figures:

ND: 24.9%

PASOK: 10.9%

Course of Freedom: 9.2%

Greek Solution: 9%

KKE: 7.6%

SYRIZA: 4.6%

Undecided voters: 16%

Other party: 7.1%

The sizable undecided bloc suggests potential volatility ahead of future elections.

Limited Momentum for New Political Formations

The survey also measured potential electoral ceilings for new political movements.

Support likelihood for a new party led by former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras stands at 17.3%, while a potential party under Maria Karystianou registers 19.2%, reflecting a slight decline from the previous month.

Meanwhile, backing for a hypothetical political comeback by former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras remains limited at 5.8%.

Notably, these figures reflect potential electoral ceilings rather than direct voting intention.

Strong Public Backing for Constitutional Reform

The poll highlights broad public support for proposed constitutional amendments introduced by the Prime Minister.

Approval levels include:

  • 71.4% support revising Article 86 (ministerial liability provisions)
  • 69.1% back allowing supreme courts to select their own leadership
  • 64.6% favor establishing a six-year presidential term
  • 62.4% support comprehensive evaluation of public sector employees

The findings indicate a reform-oriented electorate, even amid shifting party dynamics.

Political Outlook

While New Democracy maintains structural dominance, the competition for second place remains open. At the same time, emerging political initiatives appear to face defined electoral ceilings, limiting immediate disruption to the current party system.

With a high undecided rate and reform proposals gaining traction, Greece’s political trajectory in 2026 remains dynamic but strategically predictable at the top.
