The cabinet reshuffle planned by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis with the aim of making a fresh start in the government is at the centre of the political agenda. With this revision, Mitsotakis aims to give a new impetus to the government and change the agenda.

The Tempi disaster will be the decisive factor

Last year's Tempi train accident will be effective in determining the ministries responsible for transport and infrastructure in the new cabinet. While changes are being made in the cabinet, more reliable candidates are expected to replace the names held responsible for the accident.

Permanent and changing names in the cabinet

Adonis Georgiadis, Mihalis Chrisohoidis, Lina Mendoni, Takis Theodorikakos, Sofia Zaharakis and Kostas Tsiaras are among the names that will keep their places in the government.

On the other hand, Vasilis Kikilias, Niki Kerameos and Kiryakos Pierrakakis are planned to be transferred to different ministries. Nikos Dendias, Yorgos Gerapetritis and Pavlos Marinakis will continue their duties.

Kostas Skrekas, Kostas Vlassis, Fontas Baraliakos, Yorgos Stylos, Makarios Lazaridis, Lakis Vasileiadis and Tasos Dimsohakis are among the names likely to join the government.

As for critical positions such as the Ministry of Transport, no clear name has yet been identified, but Konstantinos Kyranakis has been mentioned as deputy minister.

Where will the key changes take place?

The biggest impact of the cabinet reshuffle is expected to be felt in the Ministries of Transport, Migration Policy, Maritime Affairs, Environment and Energy and Infrastructure. The Ministry of Justice is still uncertain.

Serious changes are planned, especially at the level of deputy ministers. According to Mitsotakis' notebook, some deputy ministers will be replaced due to their poor performance and incompatibility with ministers.

When will the new cabinet be announced?

The revision is expected to be announced on 14 March, one day after the swearing-in ceremony of the new President Kostas Tasoulas. However, it is also rumoured that Mitsotakis may make a surprise announcement in the coming days and announce the cabinet early.
