Tax cuts and €150m AI fund to boost Greek SMEs
Two tax measures are under consideration with immediate financial impact. The first involves a reduction in advance tax payments, easing pressure on cash flow and improving business planning. The second is the planned abolition of the professional levy, an emergency tax introduced in 2011 during the bailout period that applies regardless of profitability and has long been criticized by businesses as a brake on growth and investment.
Alongside tax relief, Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos announced that a €150 million development program for 2026 is being prepared to support SMEs investing in artificial intelligence and modern technologies. Speaking to Action24 TV, he said AI is rapidly transforming the economy and can significantly enhance productivity and state efficiency.
The measures form part of a broader strategy that prioritizes industry, innovation and new technologies, with the aim of reinforcing SMEs, which remain the backbone of Greece’s economy and employment.
