Octopuses from Türkiye exported to Greece
Octopus, shrimp and squid caught in the Saros Bay in the northeast of the Aegean Sea are exported to European countries, including Greece, Italy and Spain.
The seafood caught in the region is processed by Eserler Gıda Su Ürünleri Sanayi ve Ticaret Limited Şirketi operating in Enez district and sent to many European countries by cold chain.
Turgay Eser, one of the partners of the company, which exported 5 million 889 thousand dollars last year, told Anadolu Agency (AA) that their company, which started to trade in seafood in 1998, has been export-oriented for 5 years.
Stating that they have the authority to export fisheries products to European Union countries, Eser said, "We sell our products to Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy and Spain. Our goal is to increase exports, which is our country policy, and to contribute to the country's economy." said.
Stating that the products from Saros are very popular in Europe, Eser said:
"The most preferred product in Greece is the octopus. Our products are sold in the well-known supermarket chains of Europe. Especially octopus, shrimp and squid ... Our focus is on the products in the region, but we also collect products from many points in Türkiye. Our contribution to our country brings us also commercial gains." We want to increase our exports in accordance with our country policy."
