A 37-year-old man was arrested for the arsenal in Menidi: His accomplice is being sought – Investigations are turning to organized crime.

The Security continues intensive investigations to establish the destination and purposes of existence of the huge arsenal found in an abandoned house on Bosda Street in Menidi. The case started with the arrest of a 37-year-old marked Albanian, who is not cooperating with the authorities during his interrogation. He is said to have turned the house in question into a weapons warehouse.

Important discovery after random screening

The initial clue to the discovery of the arsenal came on October 2, when during a random check by the DIAS Team. in a park in Menidi, two people were found with grenades and cartridges. The accomplice of the arrested man managed to escape and is still being sought. Investigations continue in the neighborhood, where residents say they were unaware of the criminal activity. According to a neighbor, "The only one who came was the owner, once a month or so, with a gardener. I almost park outside every day and we haven't seen any traffic."

The confiscated arsenal

Police have seized a significant number of weapons and ammunition from the abandoned house, including:

5 Improvised Explosive Devices

5 Improvised Time Delay Mechanisms

5 Grenades

4,459 Cartridges

Improvised Firearm

70 Magazines

6 Silencers

Diopter

Bulletproof Vest

Bayonet and Knives

Weapon Parts

Focused research on organized crime

The Police are continuing their investigations to identify the second person who escaped, as well as the possible existence of other accomplices. The main suspicion of the Authorities is that the arsenal is related to illegal arms trade and the armament support of criminal groups and extortion rings.

The fight against crime and the prevention of similar activities are a priority of EL.AS., which continues with intensive controls in the area.
