WTMUGA Launches creative drama workshop for Primary School Students

The Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association (BTAYTD), through its Vocational Guidance and Counseling Branch, organized the first session of an educational and creative drama activity for primary school students on Saturday, May 10.
Targeting fifth and sixth-grade students, the workshop aims to help children explore emotions, imagination, and social skills through guided drama exercises. The two-session program kicked off with a session focused on the theme of “Emotions.”
According to a statement shared on WTMUGA’s official social media account, the session was led by Esra Mustafa, a trained facilitator in educational and creative drama.
“She began with activities designed to foster group awareness, followed by exercises on stimulating imagination, body awareness, and emotional exploration,” the statement read. The session concluded with children verbalizing the emotions they had experienced during the workshop.
The organization emphasized the importance of such activities, noting that “children often face challenges in recognizing and naming their emotions. In these moments, drama games come to our aid. Through this session, we aimed not only to support emotional understanding but also to foster social learning and interpersonal skills.”
In celebration of Mother’s Day, the session ended with a special creative task: each child crafted a personalized card using words and drawings to express their feelings for their mother.
The second and final session of the drama activity is scheduled to take place in the coming weeks.
