Quran completion ceremony brings community together in Sakarkaya Village
A Quran completion ceremony for students of the Sakarkaya Mosque Quran Course was held on Sunday, June 7, drawing strong participation from local residents, community leaders, and families in a celebration of religious education and community values.
The event was organized by students attending the Quran course operating under the Mufti’s Office of İskeçe and took place in Sakarkaya village. The ceremony formed part of a broader tradition of Quran completion programs held across Western Thrace, aimed at promoting religious education and strengthening community bonds among the region’s Muslim Turkish minority.
Students who completed their studies under the guidance of instructor Abdurrahim Çolak took part in a program featuring Quran recitations, poems, hymns, and other performances. Their presentations were warmly received by attendees and contributed to what organizers described as a spiritually uplifting atmosphere.
Among the participants was Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of İskeçe and Chairman of the Consultative Committee of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace. In his address, Trampa emphasized the importance of providing children with Quranic, moral, and values-based education from an early age. He congratulated the students, their teachers, and their families for their dedication and support.
The ceremony was also attended by Members of Parliament Hüseyin Zeybek and Burhan Baran, representatives of local institutions and organizations, invited guests, parents, and numerous residents of the village.
Organizers said the event reflected the strong sense of unity, solidarity, and cultural continuity within the community, while celebrating the achievements of the young students who completed their Quranic studies.
The gathering concluded in a festive and emotional atmosphere, leaving a lasting impression on participants and reinforcing the role of religious and cultural traditions in community life across Western Thrace.
