The “Double Check – Training for Youth Workers” program, organized by mindspark+, will take place from June 17 to June 27, 2026, and aims to equip participants with tools to critically assess digital information and counter the spread of fake news.

The initiative comes amid growing concerns over the rapid spread of misinformation in the digital age, where false or misleading content circulates widely across online platforms.

Building “Immunity” Against Fake News

Participants will work on developing what organizers describe as “media literacy antibodies” to help young people identify and deconstruct misinformation, stereotypes, and AI-generated false imagery.

The training will focus on understanding media systems and enhancing critical thinking skills among youth aged 13 to 30.

Participants from Greece, Romania, Portugal, Spain, and Latvia will collaborate to create a “Double Check Toolbox,” a practical set of educational tools designed to help youth workers recognize and address misinformation in an inclusive and safe manner.

Expert-Led Educational Program

Throughout the program, participants will be guided by experts in the field, including Elias Nikezis, Kostas Ourdoumpozanis, and Therapon Fakas, among others, who will share their experience and insights on media education and youth work.

The program is part of the EU-funded Erasmus+ Youth sector initiatives and serves as a continuation of the 2025 “Double Check – Youth Exchange” project, also implemented by mindspark+.

Participation and Practical Details

The training is open to individuals over the age of 18 who work with young people, have a good command of English, and are interested in digital literacy, learning, and networking.

Participation is free of charge under the Erasmus+ framework. The program will be held at mindspark+ (the Brain) and across various locations in Dedeağaç.

Participants under 30 will also be supported in obtaining the Youthpass certificate, which formally recognizes skills acquired through non-formal education.

The project is co-funded by the European Union through Erasmus+ (Youth Sector) with support from INEDIVIM.
