Western Thrace Minority Graduates Association’s new leadership visits Gümülcine Mayor
The newly elected leadership of the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association (WTMUGA) paid a courtesy visit to Gümülcine Mayor Ioannis Garanis on Tuesday.
According to a statement released by the association following the meeting, members of both the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board attended the visit, which took place at the mayor’s office.
“The members of the Board of Directors and Supervisory Board of the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association paid a courtesy visit to Komotini Mayor Mr. Ioannis Garanis on Tuesday, June 9, 2026,” the association said in a social media post.
No further details regarding the content of the meeting were disclosed. The visit marked one of the first official engagements of the association’s new administration following its recent formation.
WTMUGA is one of the leading civil society organizations representing university graduates from the Turkish minority of Western Thrace and is active in educational, cultural, and social initiatives across the region.
