Family-themed book discussion brings women together along the Karasu River
A group of women from Kırköy gathered along the banks of the Karasu River for a family-themed reading and discussion event organized by the Mufti’s Office of İskeçe as part of its ongoing educational, cultural, and community outreach activities.
The program, titled “Family Readings,” combined a book discussion with a picnic in a natural setting, offering participants an opportunity to reflect on family life and strengthen community ties. Throughout the year, the women have regularly taken part in reading sessions and educational activities coordinated by the Mufti’s Office.
During the event, participants analyzed and discussed the book Our Family (“Ailemiz”), focusing on topics including family structure, communication within the household, parental responsibilities, child development, and the importance of love, respect, patience, and values-based education.
Participants said the discussions helped increase their awareness of family-related issues while also creating a valuable platform for sharing experiences and perspectives.
The gathering was attended by Nadire Ömer Trampa, wife of Mustafa Trampa, Chairman of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and Mufti of İskeçe, who met with participants and joined the discussions.
Organizers noted that the event strengthened solidarity and social connections among attendees. Officials from the Mufti’s Office emphasized that reading contributes to personal development and reinforces family awareness. They also conveyed Mustafa Trampa’s view that similar programs help foster lasting awareness within society, particularly among families and younger generations.
Selin Sebahattinoğlu, who led the educational sessions throughout the year, thanked participants for their continued interest and regular attendance.
The event concluded with book discussions, informal conversations, and a picnic by the Karasu River, with participants highlighting the program’s contribution to knowledge-sharing, mutual support, and community cohesion.
