"Turkish Minority Supports Greek Candidates, But We Don't Receive Votes from Greeks"
Rodopi KKE Party candidate Ali Kamber, in an interview with the Turkish Minority press, drew attention to the injustice in Greece, stating, "The Turkish Minority voters consistently give 3,000 to 5,000 votes to Greek candidates in every election, but we don't receive even 100 votes from Greeks."
Ali Kamber emphasized the lack of fair treatment towards the Western Thrace Turkish Minority, stating, "It is well known worldwide that where there is no justice, there is no democracy."
KKE candidate Ali Kamber responded to questions from Gündem newspaper, saying, "What is the significance of the Turkish Minority voters' support for Minority candidates? Should Minority individuals vote for Minority candidates? What would you like to say to Minority voters regarding this matter?" In response, he said:
"If we were in a normal environment, I would use this statement: Let the most talented individuals, regardless of language, religion, or race, receive the votes in our region. However, due to the situation I have witnessed for many years, I cannot use this sentence. For many long years, our Minority people, the Turkish Minority voters, consistently give 3,000 to 5,000 votes to Greek candidates, but we don't receive even 100 votes from Greeks. This understanding automatically compels us to express ourselves within our own community. Yes, we will vote for a Minority candidate, but which Minority candidate? When evaluating the candidates, I recommend that the community think about who is more qualified, without any influence or guidance, and evaluate based on rationality, freedom, and the parties' perspectives on our Minority. The community should determine how much support they will give to the Minority-elected representative based on this. It is so easy to determine this because our representatives from the previous governments, such as NDP-PASOK-SYRIZA, had our Minority's MPs, but they didn't receive support from the other MPs within the party. However, my concern is to ensure that all MPs in the party feel the same responsibility towards my community and fight together."
