Topsidis calls for fair support to EMT livestock farmers – Requests extension of de minimis aid

The Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT), Christodoulos Topsidis, has called on the Ministry of Rural Development and Food (YPAAT) to amend the Joint Ministerial Decision on state de minimis aid for the sheep and goat farming sector.
In a letter to the ministry’s leadership, Topsidis stressed the need to include:
Producers who were forced to slaughter their livestock in 2024 due to confirmed cases of animal diseases such as peste des petits ruminants and sheep and goat pox.
Farmers who could not deliver milk because their facilities are located in mountainous or remote areas where dairy companies do not make collections.
Topsidis underlined that this aid is being implemented at a critical time for the sector and urged a review of the decision to avoid excluding producers.
The EMT Region expressed readiness to cooperate with YPAAT’s competent services for the immediate implementation of the amendment, should it be approved.
