Eastern Macedonia and Thrace region, EFET sign food safety cooperation protocol
The agreement was signed in Dedeağaç and aims to strengthen coordination between the regional authorities and EFET in monitoring food safety across the region.
Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Regional Governor Christodoulos Topsidis said the safety of food products and the protection of consumers require continuous cooperation and effective coordination between the relevant authorities.
Under the protocol, the two sides will work together on the implementation of the Official Food Control Programme, the coordination and allocation of official inspections, as well as the management of consumer complaints, food-related incidents and emergency situations.
The inspections will cover all stages of the food supply chain, from production and processing to storage, distribution and the final sale of food products to consumers.
The agreement is intended to enhance the effectiveness of food safety monitoring and ensure a coordinated response to potential risks affecting public health and consumers in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
