Topsidis meets Karystianou in Dedeağaç to discuss regional issues
East Macedonia and Thrace Regional Governor Christodoulos Topsidis met with Maria Karystianou, president of the civic movement “Hope for Democracy,” in Dedeağaç (Alexandroupoli), with discussions focusing on issues affecting residents and the wider region.
The meeting took place on September 25 during Karystianou’s visit to the Meriç (Evros) regional unit. According to Topsidis, the two held an open discussion on issues concerning society and citizens’ everyday lives, as well as matters related to East Macedonia and Thrace.
No further details were publicly disclosed about specific issues discussed or any initiatives resulting from the meeting. Other reports said Karystianou’s regional visit also included meetings with local institutions and authorities in Dedeağaç and other parts of Meriç.
“The exchange of views and institutional dialogue always provide a useful field of communication for the issues concerning the region and its people,” Topsidis said, according to reports of the meeting.
Karystianou established “Hope for Democracy” as a new political movement in 2026. The movement describes itself as a civic political organization and has published positions covering democracy, health, the economy, justice, education and other policy areas.
