Topsidis and Davakis discuss regional issues in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Regional Governor Christodoulos Topsidis met with Deputy Minister of National Defence Athanasios Davakis at the regional administration’s headquarters to discuss issues and challenges facing the region.
Davakis, who was visiting Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, said he was available to assist the regional administration on matters within his responsibilities, while both sides reaffirmed their intention to maintain an open channel of communication and cooperation with the Ministry of National Defence.
During the meeting, Topsidis briefed the deputy minister on the region’s needs and challenges, with discussions focusing broadly on issues affecting Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and the priorities facing the regional authority.
DAVAKIS OFFERS SUPPORT TO THE REGION
Speaking after the meeting, Davakis described the briefing he received from Topsidis as detailed and comprehensive.
The deputy minister said he had placed himself at the regional governor’s disposal for issues on which he could provide assistance in his capacity as deputy minister of national defence.
Davakis also referred to his personal connection with Thrace, noting that he studied at the Law School from 1980 to 1984.
FOCUS ON REGIONAL SECURITY AND COOPERATION
Topsidis highlighted the importance of sustained cooperation between the regional administration and the Ministry of National Defence in addressing issues concerning the wider security and resilience of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
The meeting was held in a positive atmosphere, with both sides confirming their intention to maintain an open line of communication and cooperation.
Lieutenant General Panagiotis Kavidopoulos, commander of the Supreme Military Command of Thrace (ASDITH), also attended the meeting.
