Seventeen arrested in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace for traffic code violations

Between June 6 and June 10, 2025, a total of seventeen individuals were arrested across various regions of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace for violations of the Greek Highway Code, according to police authorities.
The arrests were made during traffic checks conducted in Kavala, Thasos, Xanthi, Evros, Rodopi, and Drama by police departments under the jurisdiction of the General Regional Police Directorate of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
Key Offenses Included:
- Driving without a license
- Driving under the influence of alcohol
- Reckless driving
- Involvement in traffic accidents while intoxicated
Breakdown of Arrests:
Kavala & Thasos: 5 Greek nationals and 2 foreign nationals were arrested. Among them, four were caught riding motorcycles without a valid driver’s license, one was intoxicated while driving a motorcycle, another drove recklessly in a private truck, and one was involved in a property-damage accident while driving without a license and under the influence of alcohol.
Xanthi: 3 Greek nationals were apprehended for driving one car and two motorcycles without a license.
Evros: 3 Greek nationals and 1 foreign national were arrested. The Greeks were found riding motorcycles without a license, while the foreign national was driving a car dangerously.
Rodopi: 2 Greek nationals were arrested for driving private vehicles without a license. One of them was also intoxicated.
Drama: 1 Greek national was caught driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police authorities emphasize that such checks aim to tackle dangerous driving behaviors and enhance road safety across the region.
