Twenty people have been arrested in drug-related investigations carried out across the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace region as part of targeted police operations against the spread of narcotics.

According to a statement by Greek police, the arrests took place between July 15 and July 26, 2026, in areas under the jurisdiction of police directorates in Dedeağaç, Orestiada, Gümülcine, İskeçe, Kavala and Drama.

A total of 20 individuals, including 18 Greek nationals and two foreign nationals, were arrested, with 17 separate case files being prepared for violations of narcotics legislation.

In one case, a woman was arrested on July 16 in İskeçe by officers from the Narcotics Enforcement Unit of the İskeçe Criminal Investigation Department after she was found receiving a parcel from a courier company containing a nylon package with 2.73 grams of raw cannabis. The substance was confiscated.

In 16 additional cases, police operations carried out in various locations resulted in further arrests. Authorities reported the seizure of small quantities of cocaine and raw cannabis, one cannabis plant, two narcotic tablets, two cannabis cigarettes and two grinders.

The investigations involved police units from Orestiada, Dedeağaç, Gümülcine, İskeçe, Kavala, Drama and Thassos. The case files were submitted to the relevant prosecutors, while preliminary investigations were conducted by the respective criminal investigation and narcotics units.
