'Sadik Ahmet' film released
The film 'Sadık Ahmet', which tells the life of Dr. Sadık Ahmet, known for his struggle for the rights of Western Thrace Turks, was released. The line "Do you need an official document to live humanely?" in the film is like the summary of the film.
The TRT co-production film "Sadık Ahmet", which tells the life of Sadık Ahmet, a medical doctor and politician who devoted his life to the struggle for the rights of Western Thrace Turks, was released today. Dr Ahmet, who objected to the Greek administration's behaviour towards the minority Turks in the 1980s, started his struggle with a signature campaign and took it to politics by establishing the Friendship Equality Peace Party. In the film, sections of the life of Sadık Ahmet, who died in a suspicious traffic accident on 24 July 1995, are presented, sometimes with detention and imprisonment, sometimes with death threats. The film, in which we see that the state of the Republic of Turkey stands by both Ahmet and the Western Thrace Turks to the end, reveals the struggle for a humane life.
WILL BE A SPARK FOR THE TURKIC WORLD
Turgay Aydın, Nur Fettahoğlu, Erkan Can and Erdal Beşikçioğlu took the lead roles in the film. The film, produced by MCG Film, had its premiere the previous evening. In the gala, which attracted great interest, important people from the political and cultural community as well as the Ahmet family took part. Sadık Ahmet's wife Işık Ahmet, son Levent and daughter Funda Ahmet watched the film with the guests for the first time. Levent Ahmet thanked those who contributed to the film in his speech after the screening and said: "The Republic of Turkey has always protected every Turk in the world. But since Western Thrace is under reciprocity and the Treaty of Lausanne, we have felt this much more strongly. I believe that the film Sadık Ahmet will be a spark for the hearts waiting for a spark in the Turkish world. Blessed is he who says I am a Turk".
DO WE NEED OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS TO LIVE HUMANELY?
Speaking about the film, Director Hakan Yonat said that they preferred to tell the story of Sadık Ahmet's determined march to defend the rights of Turks in the film. Yonat stated that they completed the film in Edirne, which they had planned to shoot in Komotini, and said, "Nearly 130 thousand of our compatriots live there. We tried to prevent the relations between the two countries from becoming dangerous with an action we will take or a decision we will take. We have enough material to make a series. You ask which one of them I should tell. We emphasised Sadık Ahmet's social leadership, political identity and the difficult process his family went through."
Expressing that he was impressed by Ahmet's persistence and determination, the director said, "He is a man who insists that the rights of the Turkish minority should be taken completely by law and law and insists on this issue. What difference does it make if there is no Lausanne? Do we need an official document to live humanely?" is actually the summary of this issue.
EVERY EMOTION WAS HANDLED IN DOSES
Screenwriter Mert Dikmen stated that in writing the script, they paid attention to tell the story with all its reality, without agitation and without blaming anyone. The screenwriter said, "Mrs. Işık, Mr. Levent and Mrs. Funda sincerely shared their experiences with us from the very beginning. They trusted us and handed over their stories. We tried to translate their stories to the best of our ability and the result was a result that satisfied everyone. I was on the set several times during the editing phase of the film and I felt that a better job was done than I imagined both during the shooting and the editing phase. I did not watch it until the premiere. I wanted to experience that excitement on the screen with the crew and our actors."
