Rhodope Region imposes restrictions due to high fire risk
In accordance with Article 130 of Law 4926/2022, the following forested areas will be closed to all pedestrian and vehicular traffic:
Nimfe Forest within the Gümülcine Municipality.
The forested area in the Oak Shore region of Gümülcine Municipality.
The "Profiti Ilias" recreational area west of Yassıköy, under the Yassıköy Municipality.
Alsos area within the Sapçı limits, part of Maronya-Şapçı Municipality.
The tourist forest area in the Imaret region under the Maronya-Şapçı Municipality.
The coastal forest in the Imaret region, also under Maronya-Şapçı Municipality.
The Krioneri coastal forest in the Maronya-Şapçı Municipality.
The Civil Protection Department of the East Macedonia and Thrace Regional Authority advises residents to exercise extreme caution and avoid activities that could inadvertently start fires, such as burning dry grass or debris, using spark-producing machinery, or operating outdoor grills. The use of chainsaws, welding equipment, outdoor barbecues, beekeeping smokers, and discarding lit cigarettes are also prohibited. It is also reminded that burning fields during the fire protection season is illegal.
In the event of a fire, citizens are urged to immediately contact the fire department by dialing 199.

In addition to the Rodopi region, other areas such as Xanthi, Alexandroupoli, and Didymoteicho are also listed under category 3 on the fire risk map for tomorrow.
