PASOK’s Mantzos condemns Turkish Foreign Ministry's statement on “Turkish minority” in Thrace

Dimitris Mantzos, Head of PASOK’s Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, strongly condemned the recent statement by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs referring to a so-called “Turkish minority” in Thrace.
In his official statement on April 14, Mantzos characterized the announcement as a “condemnable and provocative act,” explicitly “in contradiction to international law, particularly the Treaty of Lausanne.” He emphasized that the treaty, in force for over a century, defines the minority in Thrace as religious—Muslim—not ethnic.
He reaffirmed PASOK’s firm and consistent opposition to any attempts to revise historical facts, stating that “PASOK–Movement for Change has always stood against any effort to rewrite history.”
Mantzos also highlighted his party’s longstanding efforts to promote equal participation of all Greek citizens in Thrace in the country’s social, economic, and political life. “We have fought through reforms and concrete results for the inclusive development of Thrace,” he said, adding that PASOK will “continue working for the balanced development and well-being of all Thrace residents, beyond religious distinctions.”
