Over €120,000 in counterfeit banknotes seized in Dedeağaç

Police in Dedeağaç have charged a Greek national with possession and circulation of counterfeit currency, as well as violations of weapons laws, after discovering more than €120,000 in fake banknotes during a raid on his home.

Police in Dedeağaç have charged a Greek national with possession and circulation of counterfeit currency, as well as violations of weapons laws, after discovering more than €120,000 in fake banknotes during a raid on his home.

Acting on intelligence, officers from the Alexandroupolis Anti-Crime Unit carried out a coordinated operation Wednesday morning. During the search, they seized:

195 counterfeit €500 banknotes

98 counterfeit €100 banknotes

755 counterfeit €20 banknotes

One air pistol capable of firing metal pellets, with magazine

Four metal pellets

One stiletto knife

In total, 1,048 counterfeit banknotes were confiscated.

The case file has been submitted to the Prosecutor of the Dedeağaç Court of First Instance, while the preliminary investigation is being conducted by the local Anti-Crime Unit.
