KOMOTINI DINATA: "Shameful images from Agia Paraskevi park"
The main opposition KOMOTINI DINATA team of the Municipality of Komotini criticised Mayor Yannis Garanis and his administration for the poor state of the Agia Paraskevi park.
The KOMOTINI DINATA team, headed by Antonis Gravanis, in a press release, referred to the neglect of the Agia Paraskevi park, located in the busiest part of the city of Komotini, and severely criticised the mayor Yannis Garanis and his administration with a statement titled "Shameful images from the Agia Paraskevi park for the Garanis administration".
The KOMOTINI DINATA team stated that the images that are seen in the park are a shameful sight for the Garanis administration and that his administration is unable to solve even the most basic issues of everyday life and the maintenance of common areas, emphasising that for them the park is a key element and habitat for urban life, and that the improvement and maintenance of the park is a strategic goal and a priority issue for creating a human city.
The main opposition KOMOTINI DINATA List, headed by Antonis Gravanis, issued the following statement
"Shameful scenes for the Municipality of Komotini in the busiest part of the city. It is becoming more and more evident that the administration of Mr Garanis is unable to solve even the most basic issues of everyday life and the maintenance of common areas.
At a time when the inhabitants of our city are looking for green, cool and recreational spaces for themselves and their children, Agia Paraskevi Park (like all public spaces) presents images of abandonment and indifference.
Citizens who visit Agia Paraskevi Park are confronted with rubbish dumps, uncut grass, unpruned trees and non-working water fountains.
At the same time, the lack of greenery, flowers, outdoor equipment and maintenance creates disappointing images.
The situation is now out of control, with hundreds of complaints from citizens and parents. From Garanis Bey, the most characteristic example of bringing the park into disrepute is the stagnant water, a swamp with all kinds of waste and insects, a source of pollution next to the playground, while an additional garbage dump completes the bad views.
Fortunately for the park's regulars, there are conscientious professionals who take care of their area of responsibility, and the park is partly attractive for visitors.
The mayor's indifference and incompetence in dealing with what is absolutely obvious in the daily life of the citizens is now obvious and can be seen by everyone, even in the most central parts of the city.
So, if the mayor cannot deal with such embarrassing situations fifty metres away from his office, does anyone really believe that he can continue as mayor of this city?
For us and for all Komotinians, the park should be a key element of urban life and a living space. We commit that the improvement and maintenance of the park is our strategic goal and priority to create a human city."
