Gümülcine Municipality urges landowners to clear plots ahead of fire season
The directive applies to owners, tenants and other occupants of undeveloped land located within city plans, settlement boundaries, areas within 100 metres of such zones, and certain properties outside planning areas that include buildings. Those affected must complete clearing work by June 15 and maintain the sites until October 31 to reduce the risk of fire outbreaks and spread.
Authorities outlined a series of required measures, including the removal of dry vegetation, dead trees and branches, thinning of dense shrubs, pruning of trees, and clearing of flammable materials and waste. All debris must be safely collected and disposed of.
In addition, property holders must submit a declaration confirming compliance via an online platform operated by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection by the same June deadline. The platform also accepts complaints regarding uncleared plots.
Officials warned that failure to comply may result in administrative fines and criminal penalties. Maintained gardens and landscaped areas are exempt from the requirement.
