Hıdırellez Spring Festival in North Macedonia to start on 4 May
The 31st edition of Çalıklı International Hıdırellez Spring Festival, which is on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity List, will be held this year.
PARTICIPATION FROM WESTERN THRACE
Folk dance teams from Western Thrace are expected to participate in the 31st Hıdrellez Spring Festivities to be organised in North Macedonia this year, just like last year.
On 3 May, the Hıdırellez festivities, which will start in Valandova region of North Macedonia near the Greek border, will continue until 6 May with various activities such as the exhibition of Hıdırellez customs, folklore performances, oil wrestling.
The central ceremony will take place on 4 May in the village of Çalıklı in Valandova.
In the statement made by HID BAH ŞEN FEST Association and Chairman of the Organising Committee Dr. Şenol Tahir, "The Festivals, which we are organising for the 31st time this year, have made great contributions to the Culture, Education, Science, Sports and Social life of Macedonia and Balkan Turks and have an important leadership in giving the right way and direction to future generations.
Festivities have a respected place among other communities rather than the Turkish Community / Macedonian, Albanian, Bosniak, Vlach, Serbian, Roma etc. In the last 20 years, thanks to the Festivities, the conscious comings and goings between the brotherly Turkish Balkan communities have increased and we continue to struggle for the existence of each other and the struggle to stay together in these lands."
Tahir also stated that "The biggest support for our survival for 30 years has come from the Republic of Turkey; Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, TIKA, Wrestling Federation, YEE etc. Support from North Macedonia; Ministry of Culture, Valandova and Strumica Municipalities and you, our valuable sponsors. We request you to support these important festivities of Macedonia and the Balkans."
Within the scope of Hıdırellez Spring Festival, 26th International Turkish Culture Symposium will be held on 6 May.
