Gümülcine Municipality joins European URBACT IV Program
The Municipality of Gümülcine has been selected to participate in the URBACT IV – Transfer Networks program of the European Union with its project titled “CALL – Accessible City for ALL.” The initiative aims to promote accessibility and inclusivity in urban environments across Europe and will be implemented between 2025 and 2027.
Out of 39 project applications submitted across Europe, only 25 were approved. Gümülcine’s project is one of two accepted from Greece, alongside the Municipality of Kavala.
The “CALL – Accessible City for ALL” project builds upon Gümülcine’s previous award-winning initiative, “Accessible City for All,” which had been recognized by both URBACT and the European Commission. The new project expands this success by developing integrated policies that enhance physical, social, and digital accessibility in cities.
Through joint actions, knowledge exchange, and participatory workshops, participating cities will strengthen their urban accessibility strategies and promote inclusive environments for all citizens.
Partner Cities:
- Dubrovnik (Croatia)
- San Lucido (Italy)
- Jarosław (Poland)
- Pentágono Urbano (Portugal)
- Galway County Council (Ireland)
- Bratislava (Slovakia)
- Zrenjanin (Serbia)
The total project budget is set at €750,000.
Komotini’s inclusion in the program highlights its growing reputation as a model city for accessibility and social inclusion within the European context.
