Meaningful visit from Türkiye to Western Thrace

A delegation from the Mahmutbey Thessalonians Association for Solidarity, Cooperation and Culture visited Gümülcine and İskeçe as part of a program aimed at strengthening ties with the Turkish community in Western Thrace.

Led by Association President Mümin Gürsu, the delegation began its visit with a meeting at the Consulate General of Türkiye in Gümülcine.

In a statement shared on its official social media account, the Consulate General said: "Members of the Mahmutbey Thessalonians Association for Solidarity, Cooperation and Culture visited our Consulate General during their trip to Greece. We thank them for their kind visit."

Following the consular visit, the delegation met with representatives of the Turkish Youth Union of Gümülcine, where participants exchanged views on the organization's activities and ongoing cultural initiatives in the region. Deputy Mufti Fehim Ahmet, representing the Mufti's Office of Gümülcine, also attended the meeting.

The delegation later visited the Turkish Union of İskeçe, where it was welcomed by President Kerem Abdurrahimoğlu. Discussions focused on current issues concerning the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace as well as recent developments affecting the community.

Deputy Mufti Ahmet Hraloğlu, representing Mufti of İskeçe Mustafa Trampa, took part in the meeting and conveyed the greetings of Mustafa Trampa, Chairman of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and Mufti of İskeçe.

At the conclusion of the visits, representatives of the host institutions thanked the delegation for its visit and emphasized the importance of strengthening the longstanding ties between communities in Türkiye and Western Thrace.
