Greek MP questions whether Xanthi Mufti Trampa should be stripped of citizenship and deported
Konstantinos Hitas, a Member of Parliament from the Greek Solution Party, raised questions in the Greek Parliament about whether Mustafa Trampa, the Mufti of Iskenderun (İskeçe), should be stripped of his Greek citizenship and deported.
In a parliamentary question addressed to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Justice, Hitas referred to a speech made by Trampa in October during a conference at the Faculty of Theology of Thrace University. Hitas claimed that Trampa's speech contained anti-Greek propaganda and accused him of starting an anti-Greek process in Western Thrace.
Hitas argued that, under Trampa’s leadership, a dangerous and anti-Greek process was unfolding in the region. In his formal inquiry, Hitas requested an investigation into the legal status of Trampa’s activities, asking if he should be stripped of his citizenship and deported from Greece.
During the controversial speech, Trampa stated, "Culture is everything for a society. Our language is what forms our culture. The greatest effort of the Greek state is to eliminate our language." This statement has raised concerns among Greek officials, with Hitas labeling it as part of an anti-Greek movement.
