Golden Down trial postponed once again!
The case against four members of the Golden Dawn Party, which was declared illegal in Greece and whose members are in prison, has been adjourned once again as no Turkish translator could be found.
The lawsuit filed against four deputies of the Golden Dawn Party, which raided the event organized by the Friendship, Equality and Peace (FEP) Party and the Greek Helsinki Monitor in Athens in 2016, was postponed four times.
The case, which was expected to be heard in Athens on Wednesday, December 14, was postponed due to the absence of a Turkish translator.
It was stated that the hearing will be held on February 6, 2023.
FEP Party filed a criminal complaint against four deputies of the Golden Dawn Party who raided the event organized together with Greek Helsinki Monitor in Athens on 12 December 2016.
The hearing, which was held on December 21, 2021, was postponed to April 1 and October 17, 2022, respectively.
Afterwards the hearing on October 17 was postponed to December 14 at the request of one of the defendant's lawyers.
The following statements were included in the written statement made by the FEP Party on the subject:
“On December 12, 2016, the panel organized jointly by the Greek Helsinki Monitor and the FEP Party was raided by the Golden Dawn Party deputies and sympathizers. They used phrases that we had difficulty in expressing to the FEP President and executives, and the crime of death was committed.
At the end of this heinous attack, a criminal complaint was filed against the criminal organization Golden Dawn Party. Today's hearing was postponed to 6 February 2023 due to the lack of a Turkish translator. It is our hope and wish that a fair result will emerge from the criminal complaint filed for the car that was stolen and the attack to our party."
Former FEP Party chairman Mustafa Ali Çavuş and his lawyer Ahmet Kara, Greek Helsinki Monitor Director Panayotis Dimitras, who was suggested as witnesses to the case, and Minority Rights Group-Greece representative Nafsika Papanikolatou were present at the court in Athens.
