The regions of Attica, Central Macedonia, and Peloponnese continue to dominate Greek exports, accounting for 82% of the country’s total, according to the annual study by the Greek Exporters Association (SEVE).

The report, titled “Mapping Greece’s Export Activity by Region (2020–2024)”, was presented on Friday, September 19, 2025, in Thessaloniki, in cooperation with the Regional Unit of Extroversion of Central Macedonia. The study highlighted the recovery of exports following the decline in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Opening the event, Branislav (Bane) Prelevic, Deputy Regional Governor for Extroversion of Central Macedonia, stressed that this initiative provides a clear picture of the trajectory and prospects of Greek exports, underlining each region’s contribution to national growth.

Despite being far behind the leading regions, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace recorded a notable 12.9% increase in exports, reaching €1.19 billion. Imports also rose by 14.5% (€142.1 million), yet the region maintained a trade surplus of €67.7 million.

At the sectoral level, chemicals and plastics ranked as the third most important export category with a 13.4% share, with Crete (20.8%) and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (14.5%) contributing significantly to the sector’s performance.
