Regional Governor Topsidis meets EMT Mayors to review PEP 2021–2027 and plan 2026–2030 funding strategy
Regional Governor Christodoulos Topsidis held a high-level meeting with mayors and municipal representatives from across Eastern Macedonia and Thrace to discuss the progress of the Regional Operational Programme (PEP) 2021–2027, assess the Public Investment Programme (PPA) 2021–2025, and outline strategic priorities for the 2026–2030 period.
The meeting took place in coordination with the Regional Union of Municipalities of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (PED EMT).
Focus on Funding Absorption and Strategic Planning
Following the meeting, Topsidis emphasized the importance of coordinated local governance:
“When local government operates in coordination, the results are measurable and meaningful for citizens.”
He also thanked PED EMT President Savvas Michaelidis for initiating the meeting and for ongoing institutional cooperation.
Key Topics Discussed
Participants reviewed:
- The implementation progress of PEP 2021–2027 and available funding tools
- Performance and project outcomes under PPA 2021–2025
- New funding calls expected to open in the immediate period
- Strategic planning for PPA 2026–2030, aiming at more targeted and efficient resource allocation
- Tailored Planning Per Municipality
According to Topsidis, consultations with municipalities will continue on a more specialized, municipality-by-municipality basis. The goal is to ensure that development planning aligns with the real needs and priorities of each local community.
The discussions come amid broader efforts to maximize EU and national funding absorption rates and strengthen regional development through coordinated local governance structures.
Regional authorities underlined that effective collaboration between municipalities and the regional administration remains critical to accelerating infrastructure, social, and economic development projects across Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
