Türkiye’s exports to Greece exceeded $3.47 billion in 2025, reinforcing Greece’s position as one of Türkiye’s most important trade partners in the Balkan region, according to data released by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM).

With exports reaching $3.4734 billion, Greece ranked as the third-largest destination for Turkish exports in the Balkans, following Romania and Bulgaria.

Türkiye Strengthens Trade Ties with the Balkans

Despite rising protectionism and growing challenges in global trade, Türkiye continued to strengthen economic integration with neighboring countries throughout 2025. Long-standing diplomatic and commercial relations—supported by high-level government contacts, business delegations, and roundtable meetings—contributed positively to Turkey’s export performance across the Balkans.

Turkey’s total exports to the Balkan region, which includes Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, and Greece, rose by 8.1% year-on-year, reaching $25.26 billion in 2025.

Romania Leads, Greece Ranks Third

Among Balkan countries, Romania remained Türkiye’s top export market with $7.91 billion, followed by Bulgaria with $4.70 billion. Greece ranked third with $3.47 billion, ahead of Slovenia ($3.19 billion) and Serbia ($2.01 billion).

Exports to other Balkan countries amounted to:

  • Kosovo: $882.9 million
  • Albania: $819.8 million
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina: $741.6 million
  • Croatia: $732.7 million
  • North Macedonia: $635.7 million
  • Montenegro: $162.9 million

Export Growth Across Most Balkan Markets

In value terms, Slovenia recorded the largest increase in imports from Türkiye, with a rise of $692.9 million, followed by Romania ($378.1 million), Bulgaria ($300.6 million), Serbia ($228.9 million), and Greece ($149.4 million).

While exports increased to most Balkan countries, shipments to Albania declined by $98.7 million.

Istanbul and Automotive Sector Lead Exports

On a provincial basis, Istanbul led exports to the Balkans with $10.19 billion, accounting for 10.7% of the city’s total exports, which stood at $95.2 billion in 2025.

By sector, the automotive industry ranked first with $5.04 billion in exports to the region. It was followed by:

  • Chemicals and chemical products: $4.27 billion
  • Iron and non-ferrous metals: $2.09 billion
  • Electrical and electronics: $1.57 billion
  • Furniture, paper, and forestry products: $1.01 billion
