Eastern Macedonia and Thrace region pavilion opens at the 89th Selanik International Fair

The Pavilion of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace officially opened its doors at the 89th Selanik International Fair (TIF) on Saturday, September 6, 2025. The inauguration was hosted by Regional Governor Christodoulos Topsidis at Pavilion 6 | Stand 9.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Interior Vassilis Spanakis, Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food Ioannis Andrianos, Deputy Minister of Digital Governance Christos Dermendzopoulos, Members of Parliament, regional and local officials, rectors, representatives of research bodies, chambers of commerce, and business leaders.
Showcasing the Region
The pavilion highlights the diverse economic and commercial profile of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, presenting opportunities in key sectors such as:
- Tourism, with a focus on new promotional tools and initiatives
- Energy, positioning the region as a hub for major energy projects
- Funding management, showcasing absorption rates and financial tools
- Agri-food sector, with strong emphasis on local products
Visitors can explore regional products including olive oil, dairy, cured meats, wine, pasta, tahini, and chickpeas, with the participation of businesses from all regional units.
Governor’s Statement
Governor Topsidis emphasized the importance of outward-looking development strategies:
“Extroversion is a key prerequisite for the development prospects we want to give our region. Events like TIF, with its international reputation, are invaluable tools. Today, we present the successes, potential, and prospects of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace—a region with dynamic growth, favorable conditions for investment in energy, tourism, agri-food, and innovative businesses. Our goal is to strengthen partnerships, promote local enterprises, and highlight the region’s comparative advantages at both national and international levels, always keeping people at the center.”
Upcoming Tasting Event
As part of the 89th TIF program, a live cooking and tasting event will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Visitors will have the chance to enjoy a traditional Thracian dish—kavourmas with eggs—prepared on-site, showcasing the region’s rich culinary heritage.
