Earthquake drill conducted by SUCCESS tutoring center in İskeçe

The SUCCESS Tutoring Center in İskeçe carried out a comprehensive earthquake drill to ensure that students know how to react correctly and responsibly in the event of a quake.

In a statement, the administration explained that the purpose of the drill was to enhance disaster awareness, put emergency plans into practice, and strengthen students’ ability to respond effectively during a crisis.

The announcement emphasized that earthquake drills conducted in educational institutions help students and staff learn the correct actions to take during moments of panic. The practices of “Drop-Cover-Hold On,” creating a survival triangle, and conducting safe evacuation procedures were highlighted as essential. Such exercises, it noted, also help students remain calm and improve their ability to manage post-disaster situations.

During the drill, students immediately performed the “Drop-Cover-Hold On” maneuver in their classrooms after the first siren, experiencing how to protect themselves in the event of a collapse. Following the second siren, the building was evacuated in an orderly manner. Students gathered in designated assembly points, formed circles, and teachers took attendance to ensure no one was missing.

After the drill, teachers briefed students about the importance of avoiding panic during an earthquake, acting quickly but in a controlled manner, and heading towards safe areas. The administration added: “Earthquakes are unpredictable natural disasters; however, the impact of potential risks can be mitigated through accurate information, conscious behavior, and regular drills.”

A notable feature of the event was the integration of basic English expressions related to earthquakes. Emphasizing the importance of international terminology in emergencies, the tutoring center taught students terms such as “Cover,” “Hold On,” and “Stay Calm,” helping them communicate effectively in a foreign-language context as well.

SUCCESS Tutoring Center stated that through the drill and accompanying lessons, it aims to strengthen both the students’ practical disaster-management skills and their international language competence, describing the initiative as an important step in enhancing the preparedness of both students and teachers.
