Titled “Iskece Turkish Union – A Human Rights Issue”, the video traces the organization’s founding, mission, and the legal battle that began in 1983 when the Greek authorities ordered its closure on the grounds that the word “Turkish” was not permitted in association names. Despite several rulings by the European Court of Human Rights in favor of ITB, the decisions have yet to be implemented.

The video features commentary and assessments from:

  • Kerem Abdurahimoglu, President of the Iskece Turkish Union
  • Ahmet Kara, Lawyer
  • Pervin Hayrullah, Human Rights Expert
  • Ozan Ahmetoglu, Journalist
  • Cemil Kabza, Journalist

The speakers highlight ITB’s long-standing efforts to defend the rights of the Turkish minority in Western Thrace, emphasizing issues of freedom of association, identity, and collective rights.

The video underscores the enduring significance of ITB’s struggle within both national and international human rights frameworks, drawing attention to the ongoing challenges faced by the Turkish minority in Greece.
