High turnout for ‘Bring Your Child to Fajr Prayer’ programme in Gümülcine
The Mufti’s Office of Gümülcine organised its traditional ‘Bring Your Child to Fajr Prayer’ programme on Sunday, 1 November, drawing a large turnout of children, parents and members of the local Muslim community.
The first gathering of this year’s programme took place early Sunday morning at the Bağlar Mahallesi (Kemerli) Mosque in Gümülcine.
Participants included Gümülcine Mufti İbrahim Şerif, Deputy Mufti Fehim Ahmet, Erol Yoluç, chairman of the Association of Religious Officials of Western Thrace Mosques, religious officials serving in Gümülcine’s city centre and surrounding villages, as well as local residents and their families.
CHILDREN JOIN FAMILIES FOR MORNING PRAYERS
The mosque was filled with worshippers, with attendance described as comparable to that of Friday prayers. Children who gave up their early-morning sleep to attend the mosque alongside their parents and other family members created an emotional atmosphere among those present.
The programme aims to familiarise children with the mosque and congregational worship from an early age and to encourage them to develop the habit of praying together with their families.
The gathering also highlighted themes of community unity, togetherness and spiritual solidarity.
