Işık Sadık Ahmet highlights issues of the Turkish Minority at the “Forgotten Human Rights in the 21st Century” panel
Işık Sadık Ahmet, wife of the late leader of Western Thrace Turks Dr. Sadık Ahmet and Honorary President of the Friendship, Equality and Peace (FEP) Party, participated as a speaker in the panel titled “Forgotten Human Rights in the 21st Century” held on 10 December 2025.
During her address, she drew attention to the challenges and human rights violations faced by the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace. She also shared with the audience the longstanding struggle of the late Dr. Sadık Ahmet for democracy and equality.
Following the event, she issued a statement on social media, expressing gratitude to those who contributed to the organization of the panel. She wrote:
“As a speaker at the ‘Forgotten Human Rights in the 21st Century’ panel on 10 December 2025, I discussed the human rights violations in Western Thrace and the struggle of the late Dr. Sadık Ahmet. I extend my thanks to Zeytinburnu District Governor Mr. Adem Uslu and AK Party Istanbul Vice Provincial Chairman and Head of Relations with Turkic States Mr. Mehmet Şahin for their kind attention. It was a great honor to share the platform with valuable figures devoted to the Turkic world. I express my gratitude to all institutions and individuals who contributed to this meaningful event.”
The event not only aimed to raise awareness of human rights but also helped bring the issues of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority into public focus.
