On June 16, Alexandros Panagiotidis, Deputy Regional Governor for Social Policy of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT), traveled to Bursa, Türkiye, to participate in the World Health Organization (WHO) European Healthy Cities Conference for 2025. The conference, which ran until June 19, brought together policymakers and experts in urban health from across WHO’s European Region to share knowledge and engage in discussions on building resilient, sustainable, and inclusive cities.

The conference agenda focused on health and well-being at the local level and attracted representatives from Greece and abroad, along with organizations, specialists, and professionals. It provided fertile ground for exchanging views, good practices, and fostering collaborations.

Mr. Panagiotidis stated:

“Our participation highlighted the capabilities and comparative advantages of our Region. This is not just an honorary presence, but an investment in the future. Through such initiatives, our Region — under the leadership of Regional Governor Christodoulos Topsidis — claims an active role in developments and co-shapes policies and approaches that respond to modern needs.”

On the occasion of the conference, the Deputy Regional Governor extended warm thanks to all individuals who contributed significantly to its success. He offered special thanks to the Metropolitan of Bursa, Ioakeim; the Mayor of Bursa, Mustafa Bozbey; and the WHO officials for their hospitality and support.
