In response to the extreme heat forecasted in the official weather bulletin for Thursday, June 26, the Municipality of Komotini has taken precautionary measures by establishing a public cooling area for its residents.

The municipality announced that the air-conditioned hall of the 2nd Elderly Care Center (KAPI) will be opened for public use to help citizens cope with the high temperatures.

Located at 1 Grigoriou Marasli Street, within the Multipurpose Municipal Building of Komotini, the air-conditioned facility will be available to the public daily from 09:00 a.m. to 09:00 p.m.

To ensure proper coordination and implementation of necessary protective measures during this period, Arhontoula Tsatsikou, Director of Social Welfare and Solidarity, has been appointed responsible. Dimitra Tsiompanou, Head of the 2nd KAPI, will act as her deputy.

Municipal authorities urge especially the elderly, individuals with chronic illnesses, and those in high-risk groups to make use of the cooling facilities and take the necessary precautions during extreme heat conditions.
