Golden Horn Brass receives standing ovation in Komotini
Golden Horn Brass (GHB), Türkiye’s first brass quintet, captivated music lovers in Komotini on the evening of Sunday, July 6. The concert, organized by the Young Academics Group (GAT) under the Association of Western Thrace Minority University Graduates (BTAYTD), offered the audience an unforgettable musical experience.
The event took place at the Komotini City Club (Leshi Komotineon). In his opening remarks, GAT President Hilmi Eren Sait expressed his pleasure in hosting Golden Horn Brass in Komotini. “As a community that believes in the unifying power of art, we see this concert not just as a musical event but as a cultural bridge,” he said. Sait also extended his thanks to all supporters and attendees who contributed to making the evening special.
Founded in 2004 in Istanbul by French horn artist Begüm Gökmen, Golden Horn Brass features two trumpets, a horn, a trombone, and a tuba. The ensemble performed a diverse repertoire that ranged from classical compositions to jazz and folk melodies, enchanting the audience throughout the night.
Over the course of the 90-minute performance, the hall was filled with rhythm and applause, as attendees enthusiastically accompanied the music. At the end of the evening, the group received a prolonged standing ovation as they exited the stage.
The event drew a distinguished audience, including Aykut Ünal, Türkiye’s Consul General in Komotini, and his wife İlayda Ünal; Rodopi MP Özgür Ferhat; FEP Party President Çiğdem Asafoğlu; BTAYTD President Hüseyin Baltacı; former MP Galip Galip; representatives of minority institutions, and numerous art lovers.
