Attention: Landowners must clean their properties!
The Komotini Municipality has issued a public notice requiring property owners, landholders, and users to clean their plots and open spaces by April 30, 2025. Failure to comply will result in penalties.
Which Areas Are Affected?
The mandatory cleaning applies to properties located in:
✔️ Urban and residential areas with approved city plans,
✔️ Unplanned residential areas,
✔️ Land within 100 meters of the above-mentioned areas,
✔️ Plots with buildings in non-urban zones.
Required Cleaning Measures
To reduce fire hazards, property owners must:
✅ Remove dry grass, fallen branches, and other combustible vegetation,
✅ Trim tree branches close to buildings,
✅ Prune tree bases and thin out dense shrubs,
✅ Eliminate flammable or explosive materials,
✅ Properly dispose of waste to prevent illegal dumping.
During fire season (May 1 - October 31), all land must remain clean and clear of dry vegetation and flammable materials.
Penalties for Non-Compliance
Property owners who fail to comply will face fines and additional costs:
❌ A fine of at least €200 (€0.50 per square meter),
❌ Municipal cleaning costs will be charged to the owner,
❌ Legal action as per Law 5037/2023 (Article 266) and Fire Safety Regulation 20/23.
This notice serves as an official warning to all landowners.
